The Calibug HDTV is equal parts good and gimmicky. The good: the tool includes a suite of calibration tools and test patterns designed to let you use your PC to calibrate an HDTV set (the PC will, of course, need DVI output to work effectively with an HD set). The gimmick? Instead of just coming on a CD-ROM, the tool comes pre-installed on a USB drive and on a CD-ROM for $129.95. While the USB drive could come in handy if, for example, you want to run this from a CD-free laptop, we’d still like to be able to opt for a cheaper CD-only version, especially with the number of USB drives we’ve already got lying around.
